Wildcats Roll on the Road
Sands Spurs Dominant Offensive Effort

Kate Sands came up with one of the best offensive outings of her three-year New Jersey Wildcats career leading the Wildcats to a 9-0 victory over the New Hampshire Lady Phantoms at Southern New Hampshire University. Sands recorded three goals and an assist and newcomer Rachel Unitt connected twice in her Wildcats debut as New Jersey improved to 12-0 for the season while running their regular season winning streak to 26 games.

Cat Reddick, Lisa Grubb, and Jen Redmond all posted a goal and an assist each while Domenique Esposito also hit the back of the net for the Wildcats. Sarah Allen-Knight went the distance in goal and needed just one save to record the shutout. With no goals against, the Wildcats increased their current shutout streak to 689 minutes.

The Wildcats didn't wait long to get on the board with Sands connecting just 2:10 into the game. Unitt sent Reddick up the left side and she took the ball up the left side before cutting a cross back to Sands, who first-timed a shot from close range that deflected into the goal.

After Redmond rolled a shot just past the right post in the 11th minute, Reddick hit for the Wildcats five minutes later. Bonnie Young and Kacey White completed a tight combination up the right side that left Young along the endline. Young cut a cross back to Reddick who first-timed her shot into a wide open goal.

The Wildcats continued to dominate throughout the first half with Lady Phantoms keeper Jenna Mello stuffing Reddick in the 20th minute and Redmond missing just over the bar in the 25th minute. Seconds after Redmond's miss, Sands added her second goal on one of her easier finishes of the season. Mello's goal kick barely made it 30 yards and landed right at the feet of Sands, who pushed the ball forward into the box before slotting home a shot from 15 yards out.

After Sands cracked one off the crossbar in the 32nd minute, she set up Grubb to give the Wildcats the 4-0 lead that they took into halftime. Sands played the ball forward into the box for Grubb and she lined a left-footed shot high into the goal.

In the second half, the Wildcats ran off two more goals in a one-minute span. Redmond capped a 50-yard run with a roller from the top of the box in the 55th minute and Unitt hit a minute later when she collected an errant clear and floated a 35 yarder over the head of Mello.

Sands completed her hat trick in the 60th minute thanks to a slick through pass from Redmond. Sands ran onto the ball and slipped a shot past a charging Mello for the 7-0 lead.

Unitt added her second on a 25-yard liner into the lower right corner off an assist from Kristen Edmonds in the 69th minute before Esposito volleyed home a cross from White three minutes later. The assist was White's W-League leading 12th of the season.

The Wildcats close out the regular season with games against the Boston Renegades and Ottawa Fury Women next weekend. New Jersey hosts the Renegades on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at Mercer County Community College before travelling to Ottawa for a 2 p.m. kickoff on Sunday afternoon.
