Wildcats Thump Sudbury for 12th Straight
Second Pichon Hat Trick in Two Days Boosts New Jersey

SUDBURY, ON - Marinette Pichon recorded her second hat trick in two days as the New Jersey Wildcats rolled past the Sudbury Canadians 9-0 at Cambrian College for their 12th straight win to open the season. Kate Sands scored the first two goals of the game and Anne Makinen contributed a goal and three assists for the Wildcats, who also got a hat trick from Pichon on Friday night in a 6-0 victory over the Toronto Inferno.

Becky Wachsberger had two saves to post the shutout for the Wildcats, who have not allowed a goal in six games on the road this season. Kim Francis, Bonnie Young, and Tasha St Louis also scored for New Jersey. The win puts the Wildcats in a commanding position to claim the W-League's Northeast Division and capture their first title ever in nine seasons.

Sands opened the scoring with goals in the 15th and 19th minutes with the second coming off a nice long ball from Beth McNamara. In the 22nd minute, Pichon hit for her first goal when she headed in a cross from Makinen and Makinen added to the lead three minutes later on a penalty kick after St Louis was taken down in the box.

Makinen and Pichon combined for the next two goals as well. Pichon brought down a free kick from Makinen and buried a shot in the 38th minute for a 5-0 halftime lead. The French star boosted the lead to 6-0 when she received a pass from Makinen and turned and finished from 10 yards out in the 53rd minute.

In the 58th minute, Alli D'Amico fed Francis in the center of the field and she fooled the keeper on a swerving long range blast from 25 yards out. Janine Willis put Bonnie Young in for a breakaway goal five minutes later before St Louis closed out the scoring in the 79th minute by dribbling the keeper and rolling the ball into the empty net after a nifty through ball from Francis.

The Wildcats can clinch the Northeast Division title with a victory this Thursday when they travel to face the New Jersey Lady Stallions at DePaul High School in Wayne. The Wildcats enter the game with a 12-0 mark while the Lady Stallions currently stand at 10-2 with one additional game remaining for both teams. The Wildcats topped the Lady Stallions by a 4-1 score on June16th.
